Our season closes with pianist, Antoine Préat, returning to perform Beethoven’s second piano concerto with the Orchestra. We also perform not one, but two symphonies:
Firsly, Mozart’s light and cheery, Symphony no.33. Secondly, Haydn’s Symphony no.88 – a joyous gem of a piece, which makes a powerful impression and is one of his most popular works.
“I was cut off from the world, there was no one to confuse or torment me, and I was forced to become original,” explained Haydn of the circumstances that shaped his ever-fresh voice.
Mozart: Symphony no. 33, K.319, B-flat major
Beethoven: Piano Concerto no.2, op.19, B-flat major
Haydn: Symphony No.88, G major
Soloist: Antoine Préat, Piano
Conductor: Hilary Davan Wetton
