‘Band in a Van’ takes music into the local community

Alina Strings bring the power of live music to local communities

Despite the ongoing pandemic, musicians from Alina are committed to ‘Band in a Van’ – small events which take music into the heart of the local community.

Here is what we have been doing:

On 13 and 15 December our ‘Band in a Van’ Brass group took music and the spirit of Christmas to the Family Centres of Beanhill, West Bletchley, Netherfield and Fuller’s Slade in Milton Keynes. The musicians performed interactive concerts to adults and children – all of whom were delighted to sing along, shake their percussion instruments & enjoy some live music. Thank you for having us and thank you to the MK Community Foundation for supporting this series. We hope to return in 2022…

On Tuesday 7 December,  the Alina Orchestra String Trio were delighted to be invited to Aylesbury Library to perform as part of ‘Tuesday Tunes’.

The morning was fantastic – it not only provided an opportunity for the orchestra to bring music to the community, but ‘Tuesday Tunes’ also links the power of music for those living with Dementia

#TuesdayTunes is a chance for those living with dementia and their carers to come together with others to talk openly and remind themselves of the power of music. We hope more will benefit from the meet-ups in 2022.”

We were delighted to see so many people at our event plus a very special guest The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Anders Christensen!  We hope to see you all again very soon!
